Urgent actions and petitions
The urgent actions present cases of Latin American communities whose territory, human rights, autodetermination and dignity are threatened by the "development" of activities imposed to them in majority by Canadian companies in the sectors of mining, petroleum and forest. These activities are responsible for major social and environmental negative impacts, especially towards agricultural lands, water sources and public health. Therefore, the CDHAL issues a hundred urgent actions a year to expose cases of injustice to the Latin American governments as well as to our own governments.
CDHAL also publishes petitions that are usually linked to our public education campaigns. They are initiated either by CDHAL or by other Southern or Northern organizations which share our perspective on human rights.
