L'actrice américaine Sigourney Weaver a manifesté mercredi à New York aux côtés de dizaines de chefs indigènes venus de plusieurs pays contre la construction du barrage géant de Belo Monte au Brésil, qui, selon eux, nuira aux peuples de la jungle amazonienne.

"A notre époque le développement doit aller de pair avec l'éthique", a dit l'actrice aux journalistes devant la mission permanente du Brésil auprès de l'ONU, estimant que le projet répondait "à un modèle obsolète pour obtenir de l'énergie".

Given the tense relations of  Washington  with  Venezuela , Bolivia , and  Ecuador , as well as the Colombian military’s atrocious human rights record, the Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) believes the plan should be subjected to vigorous debate.
